The roosters on the island of Kauai are believed to have originated from a few roosters and hens that were brought to the island by Polynesian settlers as a source of food. Over time, these birds have thrived and multiplied, and they have now become a common sight throughout the island.
The roosters out number residents. 450,000 birds to 80,000 residents.
While they can be a nuisance, maybe they are the reason we see next to no bugs! We hear the crickets at night but no mosquitoes, flys, wasps....nothing....so I guess...thank you roosters!
Views around the complex...
Off to Anini Beach to look for a place to snorkel.
Snorkeled for a bit and saw our first turtles in the ocean along with an array of fish! Very cool!
And just like everywhere else.... there is also a homeless population here..... what a view these guys have!

Took a drive to check out Opaekaa Falls in Wailua which was running very calmly this time of year but I am sure it's quite impressive in the rainy season.
Across from the falls is a very popular kayaking and paddleboard river that leads into the ocean.
Stopped to do some shopping in Wailua, refreshments at a little local Taco Bar and back to our home in Princeville!
Aloha po....
