Car wash was first on the list today.....get rid of the red dust evidence all over that Jeep. Sadly enough, the Jeep is cleaner than when we picked it up!
Seems to be a bit of ocean fog or vog ( volcano fog) so instead of heading to the beach right away we headed up to the Kona rainforest to check out Mountain Thunder Coffee and went on a short coffee tour.
I love the moss roof! The area does not get lots of rain but just mist and moisture which is good for the coffee.
Meet Drift!
And Princes, but apparently she is old and cranky so you have to watch how you pet her!
It was an interesting tour... makes you understand why the coffee starts at $39 a pound up to $70 a pound! Yikes! We chose just to enjoy the sample coffee and not buy any!
And they even put Princess on the merchandise! Love it!
Apparently the Angel trumpet can cause temporary paralysis! It's beautiful but stay away from it!
I love the flowers here!
We stopped at Hula Daddy Coffee but unfortunately it was closed today but we saw this arbour draped with this flowering vine!
Now I thought the last place had pricey coffee beans! Check this out! And you can pay for it in 4 equal installments!! Man if you need to put your coffee purchase on installments you might be in the wrong coffee market!
I thought I was bringing a bag of coffee beans back for Arthur .... but don't think that will happen at these crazy prices!
Back down the mountain into Kailua-Kona for some shopping! A couple of cool murals..
And a Cat Cafe!!! If it wasn't $20 per person I would have considered it!
Love this little ginger baby lounging in the beach chair.
The sun finally came out from out of the light cloud cover so thought we would head to the snorkel beach!
Luckily we did not pay for parking ($12 for 4 hours) and thought we would walk out and see where we would claim some real estate....
No sooner had we got to the water and the lifeguards were on the loud speaker and clearing all swimmers out of the water as a shark was spotted in the immediate area!!! OMG, I am so glad we were not out there!
This guy was not coming in! He kept going in and out not heeding the warning....we did not want to witness a shark attack!
Every night we could hear loud loud bird sounds...I goggled all Hawaiian birds and could not find out who was making the night sounds! I am absolutely shocked that it's a teensie tiny frog and that such a small thing can make such a loud sound!
