I could snorkel every day here...
This time I saw this large Moray eel....kinda scared me to be honest! I saw about 3-4 feet of it as it was going into a crevice. They can get to 10 feet but I would say it was only about 5 total....
Saw the same array of fish and a few more smaller eels. And no sharks and no Tsunami sirens! Yay
Came back and then George and I were itching for a good walk into Kona.
Walked along the lava flow by the resort we should have stayed at.... love it down here!
Love the Hawaiian graffiti!
We walked along the water and took a few shortcuts through the resorts. Everything is so lush. I almost feel the Big Island is more lush and fragrant than Kauai.
We drove by these gates so many times so was super happy to get on our own two feet and smell the flowers and see the area at a slower pace.
Checked out happy hour at "On the Rocks" then back to the condo for dinner
Off to the Manta Ray swim...jumping into the ocean at night.....not really on my bucket list but sometimes I think I get FOMO.
And who had to be the first to jump off a perfectly good boat and swim out a bit to hold onto what looked like a giant paddleboard in the dark dark ocean...
The ocean was pretty rough and holding on for about 30 minutes or so was a little tiring on the arms. The young girl in charge of our tour had some strong legs as she towed us away from the boat and had to try to hold the board in the general area against the strong current.
We had another tour company hook to our board and then we hooked to another tour's board to make a chain to increase the likelihood of seeing the manta rays....we only saw 2 smaller rays on the ocean floor so we headed in. Because this was not considered a successful swim, we get to book a do-over.
And a Lucy update.... she is glued to Gracie! And apparently where Debbie goes Lucy goes....even at night when she's been sleeping!
